What makes a Twisted Oaks album so special?
The short answer to the question of what makes a Twisted Oaks album so special is that our albums can be customized to make each and every client’s album unique and unlike any album offered by other wedding photographers. The quality is by far the best in the industry and comes with a lifetime warranty. They lay flat with sturdy thick pages that have a beautiful matte finish with a cover that can be customized with anything from handwritten calligraphy, to a custom artistic design, to a simple photo window.
How can you be confident in all of that being true? Continue to read on and I’ll explain, as briefly as possible. Click on the image below to see a gallery of our albums.
When we originally started the business, the digital trend had just taken off and the only thing that clients were interested in receiving as far as products are concerned is a CD with their digital files. One of the best things that could have happened in the wedding industry is having people realize the importance of print and seeing how album companies have basically changed the way albums look today compared to 10 years ago. The sad part is that one of the biggest reasons prints and albums have made such a huge come back is due to the fact that way too many people have found out the hard way that computers, hard drives, and digital images are easily lost forever if not properly cared for or backed up.
Three years ago, Jay decided to make albums his main focus and convert Twisted Oaks into a full product based studio. Due to the high number of weddings that we shoot per year, it was very easy for Jay to reach out to all of the best album companies in the industry and ask for samples. Twisted Oaks is an album company’s dream client, and several companies were willing to send their best products to us with the hopes that we would use them as our album company.
Jay spent an entire year working with different album companies in order to find the one that not only offered a superior product but also willing to work with us on creating a unique product line just for us. Only one album company, in the end, fit the bill and we have been with them ever since. If anything, they are more of a business partner now than a product vendor and we have built a great relationship with them.
What does the standard 8" x 8" linen album look like and what are the standard options?
Most of the packages that we put together for our clients include an 8″ x 8″ linen album. We always spend time speaking with our clients in order to get a good idea of what they need as far as photography is concerned on their wedding day. Most clients prefer to have us include the basic 8″ x 8″ linen album in their package so that they can keep the cost down up front but still have an album completely paid for. Rather than having to make any final decisions on upgrades, they can hold off until after their wedding and make those types of decisions. We have some clients that stick with the 8″ x 8″ linen album like the one you see above, which has an upgraded design style, while others choose to upgrade to a larger 10″ x 10″ rustic and authentic leather cover once they have some extra funds to work with. All of the linen options can be seen HERE, while all of the leather options can be seen HERE. Along with the basic 8″ x 8″ linen album that is included with most packages, clients have the included options to have these FONTS (shown below) used on the cover at no additional charge.

How long does the ordering process take?
The first step is the most difficult, choosing the images for your album. In most cases, we can choose for you if you like. Once the images are selected from the online gallery the design process is started. Depending on the workload, it can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to receive the first draft of the design. The client has 2 weeks to request changes or approve the design once it sent. If we don’t hear anything in two weeks a reminder will be sent, providing an additional week. If there has been no change requests or an approved album, the album order will be canceled and a $100 cancellation fee will be added once the design process is revisited.
Twisted Oaks Studio has 14 business days to finish and deliver any requested design changes. Please understand that there will be times when this time period will be much quicker, but each time there are official change requests made, the studio has 14 days to complete those changes.
Once the album design is approved by the client, actual production time can take 6-8 weeks. There are also factors that play into this which can create a faster production time and a quicker delivery date. Those factors are out of our hands as we are not the actual manufacturer of the physical album.
Who designs the albums?
Due to the amount of albums that can be in the design process at the same time, we now have an album designer on staff whose main responsibility is to design albums. Jessica Blatherwick is our design manager and she does a lot more than just design albums, but that is where her passion is.
Who chooses the photos for the album design?
The point of an album is to have it tell a story, your love story on your wedding day. Image selection is a very important step in having your album tell your story in the best way possible. With that in mind, we like to have our clients select their favorite photos from their online gallery but allow us to make any changes that we feel necessary during the design process. So, the best answer to this question is that it’s a team effort, but for the most part our clients choose their images.
What can be put on the cover?
After your album cover is designed, you’ll receive a preview that shows approximately what the cover will look like. Depending on the cover, especially if you upgrade, you may receive a few different design drafts to choose from. You can have one of three included fonts to have your name debossed (foil pressed) on the cover (two lines of print), you can have our design team draw up a few custom covers with cursive or handwritten fonts, and you can also have a photo on the cover with the option to have one line of print as well. Below are a few examples of what custom covers look like, as well as one of the included fonts.

Can I order an album any time before my wedding to save on cost?
The best way to save money on an album is to have it in the original package, but if you don’t there’s still a way to save. If you don’t have an album included in your package and realize later on that you made a mistake and wish you had, don’t worry. You can still save by adding the album before making your final payment! As long as you let us know before your final payment is due, you can still save a good amount of money compared to purchasing one afterward. Not as much as you would have, but still a good amount.
How soon after my wedding can I start the album process?
As soon as you receive your online gallery we can begin the album process. If you have a reveal party, the album process can begin that night.
What is an album reveal?
If you live close enough to the studio in Atco, NJ, you have the option to come in and pick your album up in person once it arrives from the manufacturer. We make it a little more exciting for you and add a little something extra as a thank you.
