Flying Fish Brewery | Styled Shoot
Flying Fish Brewery | Styled Shoot

A few weeks ago, we were asked to photograph a styled shoot at the local Flying Fish Brewing Company. They were looking for some new wedding related marketing material to use for their website. Our studio is only a few miles away so it worked out perfectly for us and we were able to have the entire team help out with the planning and shooting. Everything went extremely smooth and the manager Robin couldn’t have been easier to work with, and couldn’t have been happier with the gallery of images we gave her. Here are a handful of shots that we gave her, made up of shots from each photographer mixed in, and film scans that Jay took.

Venue: Flying Fish Brewing Company

Photographers: Jay Cassario, Austin Wheeler, Cecilia Mizin, Angela Gaspar

Planning: Sandi Cassario

Hair/Makeup: Joanna Bellesorte

Cake: Maggie’s Bake Shop

If you’re a fan of our work, there may be something very familiar about this Friedman Farms wedding we shot on Saturday, May 20th. There’s a very good chance that you will recognize the bride and groom from their engagement photos which you can see HERE in case you missed them. It was one of the most adventurous and fun engagement shoots we’ve done. A 5-mile hike through Rickett’s Glen, which also included all of us getting lost after dark trying to make it back to the parking lot.

From the moment we met Allison and Eric at our home almost 2 years ago, we knew they were a couple that we would absolutely love working with. They talked about how much they love the outdoors, adventure, waterfalls, and just simply spending time together. Before they booked us they asked if we would be up for making the drive up to Rickett’s Glen State Park for their engagement shoot. It would be over a 2-hour drive for us, but having been there before, I quickly agreed. Rickett’s Glen is one of the most beautiful hikes you can do in PA that is littered with 22 wild and free-flowing waterfalls.

Their wedding was also a bit of a drive for us, but by the time it rolled around we had gotten to know Ali and Ric pretty good and couldn’t wait to see them again. The wedding was in Northeast PA, and while we have shot at several Pennsylvania Farm venues, this was the first time at Friedman Farms. They have a very rustic and very well maintained large red barn that sits on a one hundred and forty-five-acre property of rolling hills that go seem to go on forever. There’s no hiding the fact that Sandi and I love our farm weddings, especially up in PA since that is where we got married back in 2005. While we do shoot a good amount of city weddings, farm weddings like Ali and Ric’s are what we simply love to shoot.

Just like their engagement shoot, their wedding was one of our favorites that we have shot. From the beginning to the end, the day was filled with laughter, tears of joy, great people, and even the friendly barn cat that wanted to be part of everything going on. The weather was perfect and we were given an absolutely beautiful sunset that was the perfect ending to the day. It was also the start of one of the best wedding celebrations of the year. As you’ll see in the photos, the best part of the entire day was seeing Ali and Ric spending some time alone together duiring the sunset, dancing and running through the fields. The beautiful glow of the golden sun highlighting the tall grass, and creating some of the best light we’ve had to work with all year. Congrats again to the Ali and Ric Veloso, we wish you nothing but the best and hope to see the both of you very soon! Looking forward to getting back to photograph another Friedman Farms Wedding soon.

PHOTOGRAPHERS:

I shot a lot of the images in this blog on the Leica M10 and the 50mm Noctilux f/0.95, shot wide open. I’ve shot the Noctilux a few times now and thanks to Leica for sending one out for me to test on the M10, it created some of my favorite images that day. While I do love shooting it, I still prefer my 50mm Summilux ASPH, especially the way that it handles the harsh sunlight and the way that I shoot. I’ll be putting a small blog post together with more details about the M10 + Noctilux combo over on my REVIEW site.

Kristen & Ronell | Hotel Monaco Wedding

Ronell and Kristen got married on May 12th and we couldn’t have been more excited about photographing their Kimpton Hotel Monaco Wedding in Philly. Sandi and I had been looking forward to this one for a while, and it didn’t disappoint. While I started the day hanging out with Ronell and his groomsmen at him and Kristen’s home, Sandi and Jenna were at the Hotel Monaco with Kristen as she got ready. Kristen looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown, as expected, but her infectious smile is what truly made her one of the most beautiful brides we have had the privilege of photographing. Ronell looked like he could make the cover of GQ magazine.

Being that Ronell’s brother Ronaldo is a well known and talented automotive photographer, we did our best to push the creativity level and capture the day in the most artistic way we could. It was a day filled with good laughs and tears of joy, but most of all, it was simply an all around great day. We have been looking forward to showing these off, so rather than rambling on anymore, let’s just let the photos tell the story.

Everything was shot on Leica and Canon gear. If interested in seeing the specific gear that Sandi and I shoot with, I now have my own gear page on the B&H Photo website – HERE.
