Mark & Sam | Cescaphe Ballroom
Mark & Sam | Cescaphe Ballroom

Mark and Sam got married on May 6th, at the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in South Philly, and celebrated with family and friends at the Cescaphe Ballroom. Both, Sam and Mark, got ready at the Loews Hotel on Market Street, where we met them to get the day started. We decided to switch it up a little this time, rather than drive around all day following the trolly, we left our car at the hotel and rode on the trolly with everyone. The smartest move we could have made and definitely the way we’ll be doing it from here on out.

As you can see from the ceremony photos, the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish is an absolutely beautiful church to get married in. The shot of them coming out of the church for the first time as husband and wife really shows off just how impressive it is, which is just as nice on the inside. But, before that happened, I want to rewind a little bit back to the moment Sam pulled up to the church in her Pop’s vintage ’36 Ford. If you think that a car like that would impress you, you’re right, it’s a beauty. On May 6th, it wasn’t the car that everyone was looking at. It was the bride that was inside sitting in the rear seat with her father. There was a good breeze whipping around as she stepped out with the help from her father, and as it caught her dress and hair lifting both into the air it looked like something out of an old classic movie playing out in front of me. The photos I captured are nice, but it was something that you had to have seen in person.

After the ceremony, we rode the trolly with the entire bridal party and stopped on the way to the Cescaphe Ballroom at a couple places for photos. We didn’t have much time, only about 30 minutes so we had to make the most of it. I think we came through and got them the shots they were hoping for, plus a few more. The rest of the night went as we expected, an absolute blast. We knew a few people at the reception including a past bride and groom, which always makes for a good time. Before the guests came into the main room, we had a few minutes with Mark and Sam to take some shots of them up on the bar which were really happy about since we didn’t have a lot of time earlier for more photos of the two of them. The party was a blast and as a grabbed a few sugar cookies from the dessert bar on the way out, it was a great ending to a perfect day.

We love shooting at any of the Cescaphe event spaces, the Ballroom being our favorite but we aren’t due to be back again until late 2018. Hopefully, that changes soon, which I’m sure it will. Congrats again to Mark and Sam, we couldn’t be more happy for the both of you. Thank you again for an awesome day and for inviting us to be part of it all!

Austin and I met up with Joe and Melanie last night for a Batsto engagement shoot. It was hot, the bugs were out, but I have to say that these two were probably one of the most fun couples that I’ve had the privilege of working with on an engagement shoot. All 4 of us had a great time and we shot until the sun went down. We pushed the creativity a little more than usual and tried some new things out, which I know that they will love.

This 2017 wedding season is going to be one that very rarely has us close to home, so we couldn’t have been happier to find ourselves shooting a South Jersey wedding this past weekend in Millville, NJ. Tessa and Richmond tied the knot this past Saturday and celebrated with family and friends at the Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center. It rained all day long, but that didn’t keep the two of them from having the amazing and fun day that they had planned. Being that Tessa works at Wheaton Arts, we wanted to capture some creative and artistic shots from all around the property. Being that it was pouring down rain for most of the time we had for portraits of the two of them, we decided to toss the umbrellas aside and have fun with it. You can hardly even tell that it was raining in all of these outdoor shots, and rather than taking the typical backlit off-camera flash rain shot, we tried something new and incorporated the rainy weather into a double exposure that you’ll see below. It was an all around great day and couldn’t be happier for Tessa and Richmond, congrats again you two! Thank you for invited us to be part of your day.

FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS:

Sandi and I shot the majority of this wedding with the Canon 5DMarkIV’s along with a small handful of lenses. Most of the bride and groom portraits were captured on the Leica M10, along with a few shots with the 5DMarkIV and the 24mm Tilt-shift lens. As far as lighting goes, we mixed in some off-camera flash during portraits but went completely on-camera for the reception.

After returning home from spending the week in the warm weather of South Carolina, John and Kim’s Constitution Marsh engagement session was the perfect shoot to get the Northeastern Spring season kicked off with. Not only was the Constitution Marsh on the Hudson River in NY an awesome location for a shoot, but John and Kim are a couple that we have been really looking forward to working with.  Kim has been a bridesmaid in two of our past weddings, and a guest in a 3rd. Since this gave us the chance to not only get to know her but also her fiance John, we had really hoped that when the two of them got engaged they would reach out to have us shoot their wedding. The two of them always caught our attention when on the dance floor, having fun ripping it up, as well as making it obvious to everyone around them that they were head over heals in love with each other. We knew that it if they did get engaged and invited us to be part of their wedding day, it would be an awesome time.

Just about two months ago, we saw the email come in that we had been waiting for. It was John and Kim inquiring about our availability on August 5th, and we were excited to see that we were still available. The contract was signed shortly after and we began planning their engagement shoot. They tossed us the idea of driving up to the Constitution Marsh on the Hudson River and after a couple Google searches to see what the area looked like, we were more than happy to make the drive up. Mountains in the background, mixed with a cool looking marsh on the Hudson River, we had a great time hanging out with the two of them.

FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS:

Sandi and I shot this together, keeping our gear limited to help push ourselves and work on creative compositions. Sandi shot nothing but the Canon 5D MarkIV with the Canon 35mm f/1.4LII. I mainly shot the Leica M10 along with the 50mm Summilux f/1.4 ASPH and took a handful of shots with the 5D MarkIV and the 24mm TS-E. We also decided to bring along the DJI Mavic Pro for some aerial shots, even though I hadn’t spent all that much time flying it since it arrived two months ago. Gear selection worked out really good, and we’re pretty sure they will love the results, especially the handful of drone shots we captured.
